Senior Network Engineer

We are looking for dynamic and motivated Senior Network Engineers to be part of our fast growing Adaptiv Networks SD-WAN service provider. You will be part of a network engineering team that is responsible for designing, developing and supporting scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures.

The Senior Network Engineer is a subject matter expert who diligently assists with the improvement of service levels for our network services; provides input to the overall architecture, governance model and provides leadership, standardization and validation of the effectiveness of our infrastructure and our edge devices.

Responsibilities

  • Motivated and passionate about learning and contributing to the team and the business with "can do" attitude

  • Solves complex, cross-functional issues that cross many technologies in network, server, storage, O/S, virtualization, consolidation, middleware, security, applications, operations, content switching, caching and/or content delivery networks, and security

  • Creates and presents "root cause" analysis documents in response to service outages, performance degradation, maintenance activity/configuration errors

  • Proactively and methodically improves quality and efficiency through automation of network services

  • Designs network architecture and integration methodology related to introducing new systems and services

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

  • Cost containment/Cost reduction. Understands basic financials and the costs associated with delivering technology solutions and subsequently engineer solutions that align with a financial business model

  • Act as a mentor for other engineers in the group

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience with network design, configuration, and/or maintenance activities. Strong network troubleshooting skills are required

  • Technical certification(s) (i.e. CCIE, CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, PCNSA, PCNSE) is a definite asset

  • ITIL certification is preferred

  • Network certifications such as CCIE/JNCIE (or equivalent training/experience) are preferred

  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model

  • Knowledge of routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IGRP, RIP

  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools including knowledge of SNMP & MIBs  

  • Independent and proficient working knowledge with network applications such DNS, DHCP, and NTP Fundamental knowledge and experience with virtualized compute environments, i.e., Hypervisor, UCS, ESX

  • VPN technologies including IPSec and SSL on Cisco ASA and IOS

  • Knowledge with Linux operating systems – CentOS - RHEL

  • Experience with AWS technologies such as EC2, S3 ,Lambda, Terraform...

  • Working Knowledge of Container technologies like Docker

  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools like e.g. Jenkins
